About The Event
An invitation to drop into the Heart with the medicine of Cacao and Song. Did I say song? Yes, because everyone who has a voice can sing and that's a great way to access the realm of the Heart. No previous experience necessary, no singing abilitities required, as we will sing not to perform, but to experience the profound effects that Kirtan, YOGA OF THE SOUND, can bring such as: - Inner peace - Meditative states of absorption - Happiness and joy, springing from within - Opening of the heart with feelings of love and compassion - Connection with the Divine and other kirtan participants - On occasion, goose bumps and tears as the heart jumps with joy :)
Yogini Prema Margot will grace us with her presence, beautiful voice and big devotional heart on her way through Hawkes Bay and will join forces with Radha Iveta and the heart opening Cacao drink to offer a truly special experience of Yoga, connection to Self
WHAT IS KIRTAN? Based on ancient chants, Kirtan has the ability to quiet the mind and bring us into the Heart, a space of no-thought and beyond reason. Everyone experiences kirtan differently, and it doesn’t have to be a religious experience. You can think of it as a sing-along. The wallah (leader) sings the mantra, and the audience sings it back or together with them. A single chant can go on for up to ten or twenty minutes. As you sing with each other you experience a deep connection with the musicians, the other audience members and yourself. And when the music stops, your mind is quiet. Because kirtan has roots in India, many of the songs are sung in Sanskrit. If you’ve ever chanted responses in Latin or Hebrew in your religious tradition, then you know how powerful singing in an ancient, holy language can be. You can be completely immersed in the sound, with no words to distract the mind. The magic of the chants can then carry you within. Kirtan is non-denominational, the Universal language of Spirit, the song of the Soul.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? Literally everyone, as the practice of kirtan doesn't require a specific belief system or lifestyle, everybody's welcome - any age, culture, gender This is an OPEN community event!
