About The Event
Both the sacred Cacao medicine and the practice of Hridaya Hatha Yoga are paths to the Heart. In this offering, they come together to map a journey into the sweetness and warmth of the Awakened Heart.
CACAO The tradition of drinking ceremonial cacao has its origin in the ancient cultures of the Mayas and Aztecas in Central America. It was used to evoke Ixcacao – the goddess of Chocolate, Fertility and Abundance. She was also known as the “Queen of Love and Pleasure”, connected with the energy of the Heart. We will share a cup of this magical plant - the pure ceremonial grade cacao by cacao shaman Keith Wilson.
Cacao is an amazing plant medicine - a powerful aphrodisiac, mood enhancer, an antioxidant that protects the heart, densely packed with nutrients and proven to be the most pharmacologically complex food in nature! It can improve your memory, reduce heart disease, shed fat, boost immunity, and create loads of energy. Cacao contains the neurotransmitters and chemicals responsible for wellbeing, as well as anandamide, known as the bliss molecule that leaves us feeling euphoric, moderating pain perception, as well as assisting in regulating appetite and mood. When high quality cacao beans are prepared for ceremony, all the mood enhancing neurochemicals in cacao become particularly active. It increases blood flow and nutrition to the brain, heart and skin, and the whole body is nourished. People report heightened awareness, focus and intensified sensations.
HRIDAYA YOGA Hridaya Yoga or "Yoga of the Heart" is a gentle yet powerful practice of meditation in different postures. Based on the ancient Yogic texts, "asana" or yoga posture is the one which is comfortable, yet firm and the yogi can meditate on the infinite. Hridaya takes us into the infinite space of the Heart, the seat of the Self and the abode of pure Awareness.
MUSIC AND POETRY ... will be the other tools guiding us on this journey.
